Abbe Center for Community Mental Health

Abbe Center for Community Mental Health is a state accredited community mental health center, serving clients of all ages for 70 years. They currently have locations in eight counties throughout Eastern Iowa.

Abbe Center for Community Mental Health works with the MHDS of the East Central Region to offer a sliding fee scale for those who qualify.

Affordable Housing Network

The Affordable Housing Network, Inc. (AHNI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization affiliated with Four Oaks, one of the largest providers of human services in the state of Iowa. AHNI is dedicated to providing affordable housing in our community, offering a wide variety of housing options and locations to call home in the Cedar Rapids area. We strive to develop healthy and vibrant housing communities by connecting our residents with services that meet the needs of a diverse population, including families with children, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Area Substance Abuse Council 

Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is a private nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Formed in 1962, ASAC is one of the most comprehensive substance use disorder prevention and treatment agencies in the state of Iowa.  Our service area primarily serves Linn, Benton, Jones, Jackson and Clinton counties as well as patients from across Iowa.


Catherine McAuley Center

The Catherine McAuley Center offers hope and opportunity through educational and supportive services that promote stability, skill-building, and connection. Core service areas include Women's Services for women healing from trauma, Education Services for adult learners, and Refugee and Immigrant Services.

Eastern Iowa Health Center offers discounts based upon your family size and income. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, Iowa Health and Wellness and most private insurance plans. Their doors will always be open to serve your health needs, regardless of ability to pay.

Foundation 2 - Crisis Services

Foundation 2 is a non-profit human service agency that offers crisis prevention and intervention programs to people of all ages. They are committed to positive youth development, suicide prevention, and helping build the foundation for stronger and healthier families and safer communities for everyone.

Their services include a 24-hour crisis phone line, crisis chat and text, family counseling, mobile crisis outreach, an emergency youth shelter and independent living support for young adults who have aged out of foster care.

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP)

A diverse, community-focused nonprofit dedicated to the sustained improvement of human life in our communities. As one of sixteen Iowa community action agencies, HACAP provides flexible and adaptive programs and services that work toward removing the barriers to self-sufficiency. Providing service in nine counties in Iowa: Benton, Dubuque, Delaware, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Washington. They build collaboration among for-profit, nonprofit, faith-based, service groups and community members in order to make stronger, healthier communities.

This is an Iowa Latino Alliance initiative, led by the Office of Latino Affairs in partnership with the Centro Latino of Iowa, and EMBARC. Linn County General Assistance

Linn County government provides residents with a wide range of services including public safety and law enforcement; human and social services; public health; civil and criminal justice system services; parks and conservation; planning and development; construction and maintenance of secondary roads and bridges; vehicle registration; keeping records and vital statistics; elections; general and administrative support services and more. Linn County’s departments work together and with partners locally, regionally and nationally to provide these services and to meet the needs of residents.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The Lifeline and 988

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. While some areas may be currently able to connect to the Lifeline by dialing 988, this dialing code will be available to everyone across the United States starting on July 16, 2022. 

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

The current Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, even after 988 is launched nationally.

Waypoint Services

Utilizing a safety net of best practice, research-based approaches, Waypoint's programs aim to provide proactive solutions and stabilizing resources for those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and violence, or needing affordable child care. Waypoint supports nearly 7,500 individuals each year, equipping them with the tools and resources they need to achieve stability and move forward in their lives.

Willis Dady Homeless Services provides shelter, case management, homeless prevention, and veteran support for Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the surrounding area.
