Join Linn County Master Gardeners at the Hiawatha Public Library every Tuesday evening in February for our Free Library Talks! Knowledgeable Master Gardeners present on a variety of topics that will help you get prepared for spring and the upcoming gardening season! Discover new ideas and learn research-based gardening practices. These talks are free to attend and great for everyone from total beginners to seasoned gardeners.


February 6th: Our Native Bee with Karla McGrail
- Learn about our vital but often overlooked native bees. Discover how you can alter your landscaping practices to help ensure their survival. Plus, make yourself a functional and decorative native bee house. All materials provided.


February 13th: Weaving Plant Collections into Your Garden with Wanda Lunn
- Learn how to organize your garden for all season beauty! Learn easy ways to mix height, color, and blooming time of your favorite garden perennials.


February 20th: Simply Seeds with Kari Pohl
- Discover everything you need to know about seeds, from starting to saving. Also, learn how to get into contact with other seed savers and seed libraries.


February 27th: Growing For Your Community; Culturally Appropriate Foods with Emmaly Renshaw
- Explore culturally appropriate food for immigrant communities who are new to Linn County. Not only does this improve food access in our community but can add beautiful biodiversity to your garden.
