Donna Schuessler Bean Book Presentation

Mark your calendars! Local author Donna Schuessler Bean is coming to Hiawatha Public Library to talk about her book, That's Just the Way It Was.

Join us to learn about the life of an Iowa farm girl born during the Great Depression, as she travels into the high-tech world of the 21st century. She was born into a "Father Knows Best" world where men had jobs and women stayed home with the children to cook and clean, a world where women had just gotten the right to vote only a few years before. With her mother's encouragement, Donna set about to become an elementary school teacher, eventually becoming a teacher of teachers conducting math workshops around the country, and not without challenges, successfully combined motherhood and career.
