Join us for a special presentation featuring Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet alongside Gumboots by David Bruce.

Experience the beauty of classical music paired with the lively rhythms and movements of gumboot dancing. Developed by gold miners in apartheid-era South Africa in the late 1800s, gumboot dance became a powerful form of communication. Unable to speak freely, miners used the sounds of their boots to communicate with one another and to mock their captors.

This unique program brings together music, history, and movement for an engaging experience that highlights the expressive power of both sound and rhythm.

Come enjoy an afternoon of music and discover the story behind a fascinating dance tradition!
